A very simple and easy

explanation of Roulette

Roulette Game

To win:  Guess a number on a wheel where a ball will land after a dealer spins it around.

In the European roulette and French roulette version, the wheel has 37 slots representing 36 numbers and one zero. In the USA most roulette wheels have two zeros and therefore 38 slots.  There are two major types of bets possible: Inside bets, and outside bets.  While a ball is spinning you can still change or place new bets, but before it falls on a number a dealer will announce “no more bets” which signals a cut off point for any bet changes.

Inside bets are made on or around individual numbers, have low probabilities and higher payouts.
One number = “Straight up”

Two numbers =”Split “

Three numbers = “Street”

Four numbers = “Corner”

Six numbers = “Line”

Outside bets are made on a group of numbers having the same characteristic; they have a higher probability of winning and a low payout.

  • Twelve numbers Column (as located on the roulette table)
  • Twelve numbers Dozen =  (lower 1- 12, middle 13-24, upper 25-36)
  • Red or Black (1:1 bet)
  • Even or Odd (1:1 bet)
  • Low or High numbers (1-18 and 19- 36) also 1:1 bets.

After a ball lands, delaer places a plastic "dolly" on a winning number.  Players have to wait until the dolly is removed to start placing new bets.
